The CMA hosts monthly meetings at 12:30 pm on the first Wednesday of the month at Congregation Mickve Israel in downtown Savannah. The meetings address museum related issues and typically include a short program on topics such as: lectures by Kiah Grant scholars, planning and publicizing events, working with volunteers, archival management, hurricane/emergency disaster planning, security and employee safety training, and presentations of member organizations and facilities.

The Kiah Fund was implemented by Virginia Kiah to provide financial assistance to CMA members for seminars and conferences related to their field. It supports members that would like to continue their professional development, but might not otherwise be able to afford such opportunities. In exchange, the recipients agree to relate the knowledge gained from the conference at one of the monthly meetings.  A portion of the membership dues revenue is directed into the Kiah Fund to sustain the program.
The CMA also administers a Reciprocal Admissions Program for its members. The optional program provides members and their staff an opportunity to visit participating museums. Since visitors frequently ask front-line personnel what other museum they would recommend, it is a mutually beneficial program that rewards staff and volunteers while familiarizing them with other area museums.
